Below is a list of some frequently asked questions, but please feel free to call our office if you need additional information. We are always pleased to assist you.

What is Chiropractic?

According to the General Chiropractic Council, chiropractic is “a health profession concerned with the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of mechanical disorders of the musculoskeletal system, and the effects of these disorders on the function of the nervous system and general health”.

What should I expect during my first visit?

On arrival at the clinic you will be asked to complete your admitting paper work. You can also print out and complete this form ahead of time by clicking here: West Hampstead Chiropractic New Patient Form.

Your initial visit at the West Hampstead Chiropractic Clinic will take approximately 1 hour. During this time your chiropractor will take a full case history, and then perform a thorough orthopeadic, neurological and chiropractic examination to diagnose the root cause of your problem. Your results will then be reviewed with you and if appropriate we can then start the treatment. However if your condition can be best treated by a method other than Chiropractic your chiropractor will refer you to the appropriate specialist.

Do I need to have my back 'clicked'?

Not necessarily, spinal adjustments are one of the techniques used in the treatment of back pain, but there are a variety of other “non-clicking” techniques for neck and back pain that can be as equally effective.  We take into account your condition and preferences in deciding the best method of treatment for you.

Do I need an x-ray or MRI scan?

Many back pain problems can be diagnosed solely by taking a detailed history and a thorough examination.  Further investigation such as blood tests, or special imaging such as X-rays or MRI scans are not always necessary. However if in your case further tests are required, we can refer you without delay for private diagnostic tests or to your GP.

Can I claim on my private health insurance?

We are covered by most private health insurance providers, however we recommend that you contact your insurance company to check your level of cover before commencing treatment.
